Deligo is a leader in visual AI self-checkout for the convenience retail industry, trusted by global brands like Compass, Sodexo, Marks & Spencer, and Spar.
We build advanced visual AI — developed by a top-notch machine learning team — to recognize food and retail items instantly. No barcodes, no manual scanning. Just place your items and tap to pay — it’s that simple. The result: a magical experience that improves everyday lives by saving time standing in checkout lines.
But this isn’t just exceptional tech: We are a tight-knit team of curious, passionate and ambitious builders who take pride in our craft and value trust in everything we do. If you’re looking to join a rocket ship and help redefine the future of AI-powered checkout, we’d love to meet you! 🚀
Role at a glance
As a Solutions Engineer at Deligo, you sit at the intersection of Sales, Product, ML/Computer Vision, Field Operations and Customer Success. You are part sales engineer, part a solutions consultant, part value architect, and success champion. You drive the technical and commercial success of our key customers, from the discovery stage through successful proof of values to successful relationships with group wide expansions.
How you’ll make a difference
- Lead technical discovery with prospects and customers, mapping Deligo into their IT landscape (POS, payments, data flows, network, security)
- Own the technical workstream in key accounts from early discovery through PoV/pilot to production recommendation, working closely with Sales and Customer Ops
- Design and document secure, enterprise‑grade architectures and deployment models, clearly explaining trade‑offs, constraints, and integration patterns
- Deliver tailored demos, PoVs and pilots that prove measurable business value, with clear success criteria and success/fail recommendations
- Anticipate and handle technical objections early (security, data, performance, integrations), proposing pragmatic mitigations so deals keep momentum
- Define and improve the technical customer journey: from first demo through PoV, pilot, and handover into Deployment and Support
- Create and maintain reusable assets such as reference architectures, discovery templates, PoV checklists, and standard slide/ROI model building blocks
- Contribute to vendor and partner strategy by benchmarking POS, payments, and hardware options for scalability, ecosystem fit, cost, and compliance requirements
- Lead or support security, compliance, and governance conversations (PCI, SOC2, ISO, GDPR), including questionnaires, RFIs/RFPs, and due‑diligence
- Feed field learnings and edge cases back into Product and ML/Engineering to influence roadmap and improve recognition performance and integrations
What makes you a great fit
- 5+ years’ experience in solutions engineering, pre-sales, consulting, or IT service delivery
- Proven track record leading complex technical evaluations or PoVs with large customers, from discovery and design through to clear recommendations
- Solid understanding of modern enterprise environments: APIs and integrations, JSON payloads, networks and latency, security and compliance basics
- Excellent communication and stakeholder skills: comfortable working with C‑level, IT/architecture/security, and store operations; able to explain complex topics simply
- Structured, persistent project style: owns timelines, follows up diligently, manages scope and expectations rather than letting things “just happen”
- Fluent English, both spoken and written, for executive‑level communication and clear documentation
- Willingness to travel around 20–30% across Europe and the UK
Bonus
- Experience in SaaS, retail tech, POS systems, payment terminals, or computer‑vision‑powered product
- Familiarity with enterprise security and compliance frameworks (PCI, ISO, SOC 2, GDPR) and responding to security questionnaires or RFPs
- Prior experience in a startup or scale‑up, where processes and playbooks were still being built
